Forepanel Weather
Personal Weather Network
Easy afternoon, late cloud drift
A mild west breeze holds through sunset. A narrow band of lake clouds may pass after 7 PM, but measurable rain remains unlikely.
This summary checks the separate NWS feed for tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, flooding, snow squalls, blizzards, winter storms, tropical cyclones, storm surge, wind, and hail. The independent radar worker can add an experimental local impact signal only after repeat-scan and path-intersection gates; official watches and warnings always take priority.
Through tomorrow morning
Resolve a Census community, NWS gridpoint, station and radar site from one coordinate.
Blend institutional models until the local engine is verified.
Require fresh data, repeat evidence, stable motion and a location intersection.
What each display actually means
The browser supplies latitude/longitude only after permission. The U.S. Census identifies the county subdivision or place; NWS assigns the forecast grid, radar and nearest station list. A METAR is an airport observation, so it may differ from conditions at the selected point.
The interim 7-day product averages ECMWF IFS, NOAA GFS and DWD ICON point fields retrieved through Open-Meteo. The hourly, monthly and probability translations remain experimental Forepanel products, not official warnings.
Forepanel gives one equal vote to the ensemble mean from ECMWF SEAS5, NOAA CFSv2, ECCC CanESM5 and NASA GEOS5v2. NOAA NMME anomalies are bias-corrected; SEAS5 uses its own model climate. The average reduces dependence on one system but does not guarantee higher skill.
Past frames are archived NEXRAD base-reflectivity mosaics. Future frames are HRRR simulated reflectivity at 1,000 m AGL. Both use dBZ-like color conventions, but only the past side is measured radar.
Official NWS products and native radar analysis travel in separate lanes. The native worker uses only real Level-II volumes, stays in shadow mode, and suppresses impact signals when data are stale or a track has not persisted.
